The captain kept the yacht well away from the Whale, and we got a great opportunity to see it swim freely. The yacht of Sail Lanka came to a standstill with its motors off. We did see some of the other motorboats getting closer to the Whale.
We finished off with snorkeling in the bay. The crew had lifeguards and life buoys, so they taught been the most frightened of the passengers to swim!
Thank You, Sail Lanka and the crew of Jade. The food was great, so was the customer service.
(And to think we almost didn't go on the cruise after having read negative reviews on Trip Advisor. I am jolly glad we didn't take these reviews into account. ) Sail Lanka is truly the best responsible whale watching crew out there in Sri Lanka.

A special mention to the crew: the Captain IP, Fernando, Bhanu, and chef Madu who pampered us with delicious local food and me with an incredible tasty vegan meal. Literally, we all laid around/slept for hours, feeling miserable. The crew did their best, besides turning back and/or advising us not to go. They were always there to help and make sure we were ok. Life vests were provided for the dinghy trip to the catamaran and for all water activities. Food was delicious and they were prepared for the rain and it meant our experience was not affected. We had fun on the net and in all the activities.
We went out on the morning 3 hour sailing trip and absolutely loved it. There were 2 other families with us on the trip, 6 adults and 6 kids in total. The staff were fantastic and always there to help the younger children (my son is 2 and there was also a 3 year old on board) navigate their way around the catamaran.
